Webinar: Using Research to Enhance Your Fiction with Agent Savannah Brooks

Date(s) - 04/25/2019
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

SCBWI Dakotas is pleased to offer the following webinar:

Using Research to Enhance Your Fiction

In fiction, it’s often plot that engages readers—but it’s character development and setting that enthrall them. Join literary agent Savannah Brooks to learn how fiction writers can delve into the world of research to strengthen the foundation of their manuscript. Looking at award-winning works from both YA and MG, she’ll discuss various strategies for weaving in fascinating layers of information, giving your book a competitive edge for market and maybe even drawing in your own strange obsessions.

Meet Savannah

Savannah Brooks joined the Jennifer De Chiara team in 2018, after interning for a year and a half. As well as agenting, she works as an editor at Red Bird Chapbooks and a teaching artist at the Loft Literary Center and is earning her MFA in creative writing from Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. As she’s building her list, she’s looking primarily for YA and always for intriguing, obsessive, and odd characters. She’s all about mythology, magical realism, and modern retellings but isn’t the best fit for high fantasy and sci-fi. Read more about her wishlist at and on Twitter: @slbrooks91.
